Aiken County students will be excused from making up the January snow day after Sen. Thomas L. Moore secured committee approval for a bill affecting all districts. Gov. Riley indicated willingness to sign if the measure passes.
Rep. Butler Derrick of South Carolina says he would consider a Senate bid if Sen. Strom Thurmond retires in 1984. Derrick noted he currently has no plans to run but would take a look if Thurmond steps down, while Thurmond weighs another race and has raised over $300,000.

Ursa offers to buy all Graniteville stock in two packages at 22 dollars per share for Southeastern Public Service Company hold ings and 17 50 for remaining shares.
Four month Project Integrity review in Aiken and Richmond counties found far fewer fraud cases than expected. Overpayments totaled 86355 with four dual-county recipients. The effort saved about 162000, equating to five dollars saved per one spent.
