County eyes EMS fitness pilot to cut workers comp costs
During a committee session county officials described a 20 to 30 minute fitness test for EMS workers to monitor heart rate and respiration. If results show stress signs within 10 to 15 minutes, staff may be deemed not fit for duty. Officials hope the pilot, with private providers, could save about 15000 annually and improve risk management while addressing gaps in current screening.
