The Denver Nuggets held an 85 71 edge over the Los Angeles Lakers with 9 15 left in the fourth quarter of game four of the NBA Western Conference Finals. Final results were not available at presstime.
David Reutimann earned his first Sprint Cup victory after 75 starts as rain halted the Coca Cola 600 at Lowe’s Motor Speedway. The race, extended by two delays, saw Reutimann stay mid pack and seize the lead when NASCAR finally stopped the event. He did not lead under green but claimed the crown jewel in a rain shortened finish.
South Aikien High School senior Jonathan Brazeal showed fearlessness on the course as SAHS won the Class AAA Lower State title and finished fifth at the state tournament. He also helped the South All Star team tie the North at the North South event, winning two of three matches and contributing to upsets with Det Cullum.
Travis Ishikawa homered and had four hits while Jonathan Sanchez earned a win as the Giants beat the Braves 8 2 in San Francisco. Edgar Renteria added a two run double and Emmanual Burriss drove in a run in a fifth inning that broke a scoreless game.
Clemson hosts as top seed facing Tennessee Tech in a regional opener. Alabama meets Oklahoma State in a double elimination regional. South Carolina draws George Mason, while Coastal Carolina faces Kansas in regionals hosted by East Carolina and North Carolina respectively.
