Marines Lead Memorial Day Parade In Aiken festival

Marines head the Memorial Day Parade in Aiken led by Ed Hammons commander of the James L. Hammons detachment. The downtown event begins at 1 05 pm with bands civic groups and hundreds of veterans. Horse cruelty charges pending after Windsor horse seizure

Aiken County Animal Control seized 28 miniature horses from a Windsor farm. An official said cruelty to animals charges will be filed at a magistrate hearing. The owner, Sandy Croy, said she placed the animals with Billy Buff to move them due to a city stabling dispute. One horse died and another suffered a severe eye injury requiring surgery. The horses were relocated to an undisclosed site with better pasture.
