Purple Heart finds its way home to WWI veteran’s grave
Daniel Quinlan, a WWI veteran from East Fishkill and member of the 77th Infantry Division, earned the Silver Star and was awarded a Purple Heart in 1932. The long-lost medal, found decades later in a private attic, will be displayed at the National Purple Heart Hall of Honor before being draped on Quinlan’s grave near East Fishkill, then sent to his Florida-based grandson.
