Crosland Park Neighborhood Association invites Beech Island and New Ellenton residents to a picnic today from noon to 4 p.m. at Crosland Park. A free tree clinic runs 9 a.m. to noon with varieties from multiple nurseries and planting tips by experts. Kids activities will be available.

About $2000 worth of copper wiring was stolen from Frontage Road between March 19 and May 21. Building materials valued at $500 were taken from Wando Ridge Road between May 14 and Thursday. A burglary on Dicks Street in Jackson involved furniture guns a television computer and jewelry. A 1992 white Honda Accord lost two passenger side doors valued at $1000 on Pine Log Road. An assault occurred on Columbia Avenue and an aggravated assault on Jasper Street left a man with a broken nose and teeth.
