McKie resigns as North Augusta boys coach after five years
McKie leaves with an 86-54 record, the only North Augusta coach to reach Class AAA playoffs. He cites lack of paid assistants and scheduling issues as barriers to competing with Lexington and Irmo, saying the program needs more support to keep up with top state schools. He informed players Wednesday and plans to coach again later, lamenting lost momentum but noting he will miss the players.
