Richland County sues state over penny tax collections
Richland County filed a lawsuit in Richland County Circuit Court alleging the South Carolina Department of Revenue oversteps its authority by withholding penny on the dollar sales tax funds for transportation projects and by dictating county spending. The county seeks a court ruling before the next $16 million payment is due in July.
