Stephens Won't Pick Between Fillies In Acorn Stakes
Trainer Woody Stephens avoids favoritism as two of his 3-year-old fillies Heavenly Cause and Dame Mysterieuse enter the Acorn Stakes at Belmont Park. The one mile race kicks off the NYRA Filly Triple Crown with Mother Goose and Coaching Club American Oaks to follow. Stephens notes he trains all his horses equally and offers no winner prediction.

Heavenly Cause and Dame Mysterieuse Duel for Acorn Clash
Stephens notes Heavenly Cause, 1980 Eclipse winner, is highly valued near 2 million after three straight wins this spring including the Kentucky Oaks win over De La Rose. Dame Mysterieuse, with nine wins, has beaten Heavenly Cause twice in 1981 and could threaten in the Acorn, both mares preferring to run off pace. Stephens calls them evenly matched.
