Supreme Court dispute leaves Aiken chief magistrate role in limbo
The Supreme Court replaces L Glenn Holley with B E Nichols as chief magistrate in charge of admin duties for Aiken County magistrates. The chief justice says Nichols holds the chief magistrate role, while debates over authority and a 1971 statute spark plans to repeal or redefine the position. Four candidates for advisory election learn they seek a post that may not exist.
