Descendants sue for rights to Padre Island
A multi generational suit of 500 Balli descendants seeks more than 11 million dollars in profits from Padre Island. They allege New York lawyer Gilbert Kerlin bought the island in the 1990s with deeds to 61,000 acres and Laguna Madre and failed to pay promised mineral royalties. Jury selection begins May 24 as a long running land dispute nears trial.
