McFerrin Named PSI Secretary of the Year in South Carolina
Jean T. McFerrin of Aiken received the Secretary of the Year award at the PSI South Carolina Division annual meeting in Charleston from May 17 to 19. She serves the Estate of Douglas Featherstone and Committee for Christine D. and is executive secretary to Mrs. Featherstone. She has 25 years in PSI and is active in United Methodist Women and other civic roles in Greenwood and Aiken.

County Sees Drought Pressure Grow On Farms And Cities
Farmers worry as soybean planting delays and pasture regrowth fail amid the drought. Clemson agent Allen Bayles says conditions are discouraging with little bright spots for Aiken County crops. Inflation Rate Holds At Four Tenths In April
The Labor Department reports April inflation at 0.4 percent with food prices down 0.2 percent while gasoline climbs 3.1 percent. Excluding energy and food the CPI is up 0.3 percent. For the first four months 1985 inflation runs at 4.2 percent annually.

Thurmond Shifts Funds To 1990 Re-Election
Sen. Strom Thurmond has moved nearly 400000 in surplus from 1984 to form a 1990 re election committee. He asked the FEC to redesignate his 1984 committee as his principal campaign committee for the 1990 cycle and plans to announce his intentions later.
