Condon Calls for Timely Death Penalties at Aiken Dinner

South Carolina Attorney General Brian Neill cites a maze of rules in the state’s justice system and urges timely death penalties. He told ADPS officers at the 10th annual Aiken Public Safety Awards Dinner that prisoners should work and crime stems from weak families. Awards went to Sgt. Truxton Umsted, Dispatcher Hubert Bennett, Lt. Van Willing, and Courtney Ross for valor and assistance to the department.

Summer Heat Expected To Run Ahead Of Normal This Year

National Weather Service at Bush Field Augusta reports this summer will run about ten percent hotter than normal though rainfall is expected to average. Climatologist Steve Gilbert notes last year was milder with few days above 90 and 95. For this weekend predictions suggest mild temps and a low shower chance, while long term forecasts rely on 40 year climatology data.
