London fans await the next chapter in the teenage wizard series as JK Rowling’s spokeswoman states the fifth book is unlikely to be completed before year end. The title was expected this summer but publication is uncertain.
For the second straight year the Class AA state softball title is decided in a single game. Crescent High School and Silver Bluff High School meet at Greenwood High School at 6 pm after Crescent evened the series with a 21 run victory to force a deciding game.

Gov. Jim Hodges accuses the U S Department of Energy of breaking promises on plutonium shipments to South Carolina and seeks an injunction. Attorney William Want filed May 1, and a June 13 court hearing is set after the department postponed moves to the Savannah River Site near Aiken.
An 81-year-old Aiken man, John Bowman, was charged with murder after his 35-year-old girlfriend Denise Simpkins was shot in the head at their Hamp ton Avenue home and died at the Medical College of Georgia Hospital. Police say the couple argued during a domestic dispute. witnesses say Bowman fired into a room, with the gun recovered under a cushion along with crack cocaine. He also faces related counts including possession of crack cocaine with intent to distribute and weapon charges.
Energy Secretary Spencer Abraham acknowledged Yucca Mountain could only store a fraction of expected nuclear waste from reactors and government sites over the next decade. He said a license would begin shipments in 2010 with a minimum 3,000 tons annually for 28 years, while debates continue over needs to expand capacity.
