BMW to expand Spartanburg plant capacity to over 200000
BMW will raise Spartanburg production from 140000 to over 200000 vehicles annually to hedge currency risks and meet U S demand. The move targets X3 and new models including X6 and next generation X3, with the goal of boosting U S sales while offsetting euro weakness. Chief executive Norbert Reithofer cites future strategy and currency risk reduction as motives.
