Meese fires DOJ spokesman in defense shift

Attorney General Edwin Meese III dismissed the Justice Department chief spokesman Terry Eastland for inadequate defense of the attorney general amid a year old criminal investigation. Eastland said he is out and reported he was relieved of duties Friday. He noted Meese’s wish for a director of public affairs who would aggressively defend him against criticism.

Shiitake mushrooms touted as potential state crop in South Carolina

Spartanburg reports that shiitake mushrooms, a billion-dollar Japan industry, are being explored as a new crop in South Carolina. Westinghouse Submits Bid For SRP Plant Contract

Agreement Reached to End Prison Standoff at Mack Alford
