National Train Day draws families to Aiken depot celebration
Families and children crowded the Aiken depot for National Train Day with two train rides, crafts, bubbles, a photo booth, live music, balloons, and food. Local author V Danielle McBride offered her book And They're Off while Conductor Don guided kids into a caboose. Organizers note rail history dates to 1833 and the depot’s revival in 2013, with the Visitors Center and Train Museum open since 2010.

Drive-by shooting reported near Laurens Street store
Police respond to a reported shooting at the In & Out Shop near Laurens Street and Columbia Avenue. Lt Karl Odenthal says a vehicle and a store window were hit, with no suspects identified. A dark colored late 2000s town car is sought as officers review video from the store.

Historic tea olives pruned for longevity at Green Boundary
At the Green Boundary Club two 32-foot tea olive trees near the building were pruned and assessed by forestry officials Ken Gooch and Vivi enne Mann. The trees trace to 1820s Edgefield origins linked to Francis Pickens and Eulalie Salley, later moved to Aiken. Local boosters Lucy Knowles and Alice Knowles supported protecting the trees as historic.
