Colorful redesign announced for new twenty dollar bill

The Treasury's Bureau of Engraving and Printing unveiled a colorized $20 note to deter counterfeiting. The bill features peach, blue, and yellow along with green and black. Distribution to cash drawers will occur later this year with Jackson's portrait enlarged.

Hunt wins landslide in Aiken County sheriff race

Republican Mike Hunt captured 73 percent of the vote in a special election to replace resigned Sheriff Howard Sellers. Democrat Donald E. Butler earned 26 percent, with write-ins at 1 percent. interim Sheriff Jody Rowland got 17 votes. Rowland had been acting sheriff during the vacancy. Hunt credited heavy campaigning and broad county support for the win and noted a larger turnout than expected.

Winner ready to take reins

After Tuesday's votes in Aiken County Mike Hunt will be the sheriff. Hunt, 41, secured 78 percent of the vote following the resignation of former Sheriff Howard Sellers. Hunt had planned to run in 2004 but switched plans earlier this year. See Hunt, page 9A.
