Retail Sales Rebound From Weather Dip In April
Washington retailers bounced 1.2 percent in April after a weather related drop in March. The Commerce Department put April sales at 169.7 billion, the best in six months, though economists warn the level remains only modestly above December. Prices rose 0.4 percent in April, driven partly by West Coast rainfall and food costs, with core inflation also up 0.4 percent. Jobless claims fell to 339,000 for the week ending May 1, the third straight decline and the lowest in four weeks.

Three die in highway crash near Greenwood
A wreck at the U.S. 25 and U.S. 378 intersection killed three people including a 1-year-old child. Bobby Carter 77 of Lincolnton Ga was driving the car.
