Beatings of Hispanic day laborers shock Canton community
In Canton Georgia a 55 year old Guatemalan immigrant Domingo Lopez Vargas was beaten by five teens after entering a green truck offering work for nine dollars an hour. Two other Hispanic laborers report similar assaults as prosecutors consider hate crime charges. The suspects, four 18 year olds and a 16 year old, include Ben Cagle whose grandparents founded the county Republican Party. Vargas was robbed of two hundred sixty dollars and a Virgin Mary gold chain.
