Syria fires missiles at Israeli jets near Lebanon border
Syria launched at least two Soviet made SAM 4 missiles from Bekaa Valley toward Israeli jets near Rayak airfield in Lebanon. Witnesses reported the launches as U S envoy Habib visited Jerusalem to ease the crisis while Israel demanded withdrawal of missiles. Begin warned of a broader war if Syria keeps control of Lebanese skies.
