Dawkins Takes Over in Sixers Rally to Even Series
Darryl Dawkins exploded for four baskets and a crucial block during a 2:06 third quarter run as the Philadelphia 76ers downed the Los Angeles Lakers 105 to 102 to tie the NBA Finals at two games apiece. Game Five is set for Los Angeles Wednesday with Game Six back in Philadelphia Friday. Dawkins, 23, 6-foot-11, 252 pounds, showed why coach Billy Cunningham calls him Double D as Julius Erving credited Dawkins with turning the tide and becoming the dominant force on the floor. Magic Johnson had earlier sparked the Lakers with a three-point play to take a 67-61 lead.
