The Aiken City Council will meet Monday at 7:30 p.m. to consider amending a Youth Correction Center inmate housing lease and review bids for the Cherokee Street Sewer line. Officials will hold public hearings and second readings on rezoning annexation ordinances and grant an easement to South Carolina Electric and Gas for a power line serving the Aiken Industrial Park.

Road gains interest in Bobby Jones Expressway expansion

Food Price Decline Offsets Gas Costs in April Report
Wholesale prices held steady in April ending four months of gains as food costs fell sharply led by a 26.1 percent drop in vegetables and an 8.2 percent fall in fresh fruit. Gasoline rose 2.9 percent but overall inflation for the first four months of 1984 ran about 4.4 percent annually.
