Aiken man crafts bowls from Maid Marion oak wood
Richard Preston of Gem Lakes used wood from the fallen Maid Marion white oak to turn nine bowls on a lathe. The 100 foot tall Clemson Champion Tree, located on Marion Street, provided the material after Public Services removed the tree. Preston plans to keep or sell his handmade pieces as a memorial of Aiken history.
