Nighttime Clerk Shot at Belvedere Depot Store
A Belvedere Depot convenience store night clerk was shot by a black male who entered the store and fled with an unknown amount of money in the early hours. Gloria Bratcher remained hospitalized after a bullet wound to the face, found shortly after 3 a.m. by a newspaper reporter. Harris pleads guilty in Columbia prison escape case
Joe Daniel Harris of Langley pled guilty to two counts of aggravated assault and battery and one count of attempted grand larceny of auto in a plea deal. Judge Rodney Peeples gave 10 year terms consecutive. two kidnapping counts were dropped. Harris, 41, and two others escaped a minimum security facility and fled toward Aiken County after forcing a woman to drive them.
