Homebound Education Expanded by Aiken County Schools
Aiken County Schools provide homebound instruction for students unable to attend regular sessions for at least two weeks. A certified teacher is hired for three hours weekly once a medical form is approved by the state, with ongoing efforts to support pregnant students and others via intercom systems and parent coordination. Benny Watson, a tenth grader paralyzed from the waist down, participates through a school to home intercom providing world geography English math and Spanish classes across four rooms.
