Sassy the purple hippo named winner at Hole-N-One event
Kaitlyn Lowe, 10, won a contest to name a purple hippo at Hole-N-One Family Fun Center. Her submission Sassy earned her a $40 gift certificate and a dinner for four at Auten's. The hippo sits near a waterfall by the 10th hole and will receive a paint makeover.

Final team captains meet at 6 p m in Aiken Regional Medical Centers conference room. Survivors Dinner May 17 at Town Creek Baptist Church followed by a fashion show May 18 at the URS Center for the Performing Arts. Relay runs May 21 7 p m to May 22 7 a m at Aiken High School with 73 teams and 820 volunteers plus more than $115 000 raised.

Graniteville man indicted on drug and weapons charges
A federal grand jury indicted Jeffrey Antonio Wright on seven counts related to drug trafficking and firearms. The June 12 arrest by the Aiken County Sheriff's Office followed a two month undercover investigation revealing Wright sold narcotics from his vehicle in Graniteville. The seizure included ecstasy, cocaine, marijuana, a stolen firearm and cash totaling about 4810. Wright faces conspiracy to distribute, possession and firearm enhancement charges with a street value of the confiscated drugs estimated at 4820.
