Nursing student Erica Davenport wins Lions Club scholarship
USC Aiken senior Erica Davenport, aiming to become a family nurse practitioner, received a 2000 dollar Mid Day Lions Club scholarship for her nursing studies and community work. Davenport, a 3.8 GPA student, volunteers at Saluda Nursing Center and works at Lexington Medical Center.

Aiken Sertoma awards two seniors three thousand dollars
Katrina Paolini of South Aiken High and Stacie Russell of Aiken High received $3,000 scholarships from the Aiken Sertoma Club at a dinner with the Palmetto Sertoma Club. The clubs named Dick Frushour as member of the year as Jean Schwalbert mentors Serteen programs. Paolini heads to Auburn to study aerospace engineering and Russell to Clemson for architecture.

Relay Golf Classic raises thousands for cancer relief
The fourth annual Aiken Golf Classic drew 172 players and 40 volunteers on Woodside Plantation and Hollow Creek courses. Aiken Regional Medical Centers team and HarborChase team won on respective courses as organizers raised over 27000 for the American Cancer Society Relay For Life.
