Barkless Basenjis Grow Popular as Pets and Show Dogs
The basenji, a silent African hunting dog, gains popularity in America as a pet and show dog. Males stand about 17 inches, weigh around 24 pounds, with a red to fawn coat and white markings. They are odorless, wash themselves like cats, and can be very vocal with a distinctive yodel when happy.
