Aiken Lobster Race Parade Draws Thousands Of Festive Fun
An estimated 10 000 people enjoyed Aiken's Third Annual Stroh's Lobster Race along with the Oyster Parade. Lobster fans watched crustacean races through plexiglass tracks while the Oyster Parade delighted onlookers. The event fueled a growing local tradition and festive atmosphere. Meanwhile Augusta YWCA Social Dance Class held a formal dance at the Augusta Civic Center with junior high dancers performing a range of dances under the Cotillion Club’s guidance. Dorothy McCloud directed the program and chaperones helped, as students later party at the Fermata Club with food, punch, and music by DJ Edward Girardeau.
