County considers new bond option for Uni versity Parkway project
Aiken County debates financing for an administrative complex on University Parkway. Council votes to issue 29 million in bonds for 30 years, with total debt service around 50 million, while paying off a 12.5 million bond anticipation note from Bridgestone incentives. Several members seek more flexibility and concrete justification for bonds to developers. An amended budget ordinance funds capital projects including EMS HQ renovations and health department property purchase. Haley Hughes covers the story for the Aiken Standard.
