Carolina Bay seeks volunteers for Clean-up Day
Research biologist David Scott and Erin Casey lead volunteers for the first Carolina Bay Work Day at the 14 acre wetland in Aiken. Volunteers will remove non native invasive plants like Japanese honeysuckle and hybrids cat tails to protect the ecosystem and replace with native species.

A burned gray 2004 Mazda was recovered in Beech Island after being reported stolen in New Castle Delaware. In Wagener deputies investigated alleged dog fighting with a pit bull carcass found and about 10 vehicles leaving a premises as 20 men fled the woods. Daniel Edward Smith Jr 29 was charged with DUI second disorderly conduct resisting arrest and threatening a public employee after a Palm Drive rollover incident. He yelled at an officer kicked a car door banged his head and threatened to fight, refused a blood test, and scribbled on an implied consent form before being jailed at the Aiken County detention center.
