South Carolina to Adopt Tiered Speed Limits This Year
Gov from 14 halted efforts to block the bill citing tireless opposition. In urban zones speed limits rise to 65 or 60 mph per conditions, with 55 mph in heavy congestion. Rural unpaved roads stay at 40 mph. Rep. Jake Knotts states the law curbs speeders, enabling tougher enforcement. Florida Georgia Alabama Tennessee and North Carolina have enacted similar limits. Virginia retains 65 mph on interstates after rejecting a 70 mph hike.
