Counties to Vote on Local Option Tax in November
A SC Municipal Association expert says about 20 to 25 counties are expected to vote this November on the local option sales tax. The penny tax was passed by the General Assembly last January and requires voter approval to enact. Howard Duvall, director of intergovernmental relations for the association, says passage is essential for counties seeking growth.
