A Ridge Spring Monetta school bus driver surrendered his license after a Wednesday crash. Principal Wade Nobles said the 16 year old student driver faced charges of driving too fast for conditions. Thirty two students from kindergarten to high school were checked at Aiken Community Hospital. one admitted for observation was released in good condition.
A line of tornadoes cut a five mile path through a Columbus area residential neighborhood, ripping roofs off homes and overturning mobile homes as storms swept northern Ohio with gusts to 78 mph and hail. No injuries were reported, though buildings were flattened, trees toppled, windows blown out and power lines down.
About 300 junior high students demonstrated against a ban on spiked hair studs and tattoos at Susan B Anthony Junior High. Police moved in and four students were arrested amid tensions. Principal Rachel Leonard criticized media coverage and urged calm discussions on First Amendment rights.
Warm humid conditions expected with highs in the 80s and a 20 percent chance of rain. Tonight will be partly cloudy with lows in the 60s and a small craft advisory for South Carolina lakes remains in effect.

The plan would require a petition vote, rapid creation of a new district, and possible tax impacts discussed by Paul Hyer of CPA II with three proposed mill rates.
At Aiken Technical College a public hearing on the Horse Creek 201 Facility Plan raised fears of annexation and authority. Residents near Belclear worry joining North Augusta, while officials say annexation is not the plan and county use of city lines would be limited. Leaders cite existing agreements and state guidelines as they address jurisdiction and billing questions.
The House approved a blue law reform bill 74 to 34 allowing Sunday openings after 2 P.M. and exempting amusement parks and county fairs. Senate action and enforcement provisions are debated with calls to delete an enforcement mandate as House members worry about uneven past enforcement.
The Aiken Triple Crown concludes with Sulky Races at the Aiken Mile Track on Banks Mill Road tomorrow at 2 p.m. Gates open at 10 a.m. A nine race slate funds Shrine projects including Crippled Children's Home and Children's Barn Center. General admission is $4 adults, $2 kids 6-11, free under six.
