Accelerated tax relief eyed to boost ailing U S economy
Private economists say a $60 billion boost from accelerated tax relief could spur spending this year. Senate Democrats propose $300 per taxpayer and $600 per two earner households, plus cutting the lowest tax rate to 10 percent and changing withholding from July 1. President Bush calls the ideas a mere pick me up while urging a $1.6 trillion ten year cut.
