Shark feeding draws adventurers and controversy in Bahamas
Perry Johnson hypnotizes an 8 foot Caribbean reef shark and feeds several others for tourists aboard Xanadu Undersea Adventures in Freeport Bahamas. The activity drew praise for education and safety while sparking concerns about shark behavior and tourism impact. Johnson, with 22 pound chain mail, has led hundreds of dives and stresses controlled exposure. Experts warn feeding may alter shark dynamics though tourism revenue supports the Bahamian diving industry.
