Last night in Aiken Cheryl Ann Key 28 and Howard Leon Key 25 were found shot dead in their upstairs apartment at 705 Richland Ave E. Officials labeled it an apparent murder death by own action. A .38 pistol was found near Mr Key. Mrs Key died at 10 30 p.m. at Aiken Community Hospital. Mr Key was pronounced dead at the scene.
Snow and sleet lingered overnight but forecasters expect mild springlike conditions in Aiken County. Tonight will drop to the mid 30s with light winds, tomorrow's high near 60s, and skies clearing as a statewide thaw begins. Peach growers report uncertain impact from last night’s weather while authorities note slick spots but no accidents.

In the small town of Vaucluse residents push a project to build a community center. The Graniteville Company refurbishes two rooms at the storage building near Senn and Walton Streets for gatherings and programs. A meeting is set for 4 p.m. tomorrow at the Vaucluse park with rain indoors at the Methodist Church. The opening is scheduled for April 15 and a steering committee is to be formed to plan events and future activities.
