South Carolina utility coal stocks steady despite cutback risk
South Carolinians face only a slim chance of mandatory power cuts as warmer weather and added coal stocks aid four major utilities. Duke Power reports 45 days of supply after a week with high coal intake, SCE&G coal reserves rose to 80 days, CP&L reached 40 days from 30 by switching a facility to fuel oil, with service areas in Piedmont and northeast Pee Dee.
