Aiken parkway project aims to revitalize historic parkways

A grassroots effort led by Connect Aiken seeks to return the city parkways to their roots. City spokesman Tim O Briant described plans to spruce up parkways for public use at a meeting at the Aiken Municipal Building. Approximately 25 residents attended the discussion. The pilot will start along the Park Avenue parkway between Laurens and Newberry streets with a possible April start and includes extending a plaza, café seating, and a new pathway system.
