North Augusta plans plaza redevelopment with four tenant spaces
North Augusta Planning Commission advanced a preliminary site plan for the North Augusta Plaza on Martintown Road. The proposed SU SO 3 Augusta LP redevelopment would moving Kmart to the wall, add a smaller structure, with four tenant bays and a smaller fifth shop. Demolition precedes construction, about 70 percent of the existing structure could be saved, and parking reconfigured to serve four shops with accessible spots. The plan lists Marshalls Ross PetSmart and Back Room Shoes as potential tenants, though the commission will not determine occupants. The panel also approved a Sweetwater Commons planned development modification for 96 multifamily units behind a Walmart near Exit 5 and a steep-slope text amendment to City Council.
