Laughter Prescription Is Arsenic Old Lace on Stage
The Aiken Community Playhouse presents Arsenic and Old Lace about two aunts who poison elderly men with tainted elderberry wine. Betty Witham Cathy Miller and Martha Brewster deliver strong performances as the naive siblings. Schuyler Meyers and Eddie Rogers provide laughs through physical comedy and timing. Director Will Cole also plays the villain Jonathan Brewster with effective makeup. The production struggles with nighttime scenes due to dark stage moments and would benefit from subtle blue lighting and curtain closure.
