Aiken man Anthony Davis Coates was charged with third degree assault and battery possession of crack cocaine and simple possession of marijuana after allegedly striking a 63 year old disabled woman on Kershaw Street. He remained jailed at the detention center Thursday afternoon as officers found drugs during a search.
A 17-year-old Beech Island girl reportedly threw a lit cigarette at a 40-year-old wheelchair user, then tried to push her from the chair. Burn marks appeared on the victim’s chest and neck. The suspect also struck the grandmother and fled, with the victim seeking charges.
