Strom Thurmond High students captured the South Carolina Bar High School Mock Trial State Competition in Columbia on March 14, earning a berth to the National High School Mock Trial Championship in Raleigh May 14 to 16. Attempted theft leaves man injured in scrap metal dispute
A Salley man was injured Tuesday trying to stop two men stealing scrap metal from his Hollow Creek Road yard. The victim confronted suspects as they loaded metal, was struck by an angle iron and run over by a trailer tire after attempting to retrieve a vehicle tag. EMS treated him. no transport. Suspects described as two Black men about 5'10", 275 and 175 pounds, ages 25–30, one in a red shirt, the other in a dark shirt. witness followed vehicle into Orangeburg County without locating the tag.

North Augusta Idol crowns Kevin Arnold winner of top prize
