Seven year old Simrin Patheja wins Miss Majorette of South Carolina

Simrin Patheja, seven, from Aiken, was named Miss Majorette of South Carolina in the 7 to 9 year old division on March 3 in Walterboro after competing against seven girls. She twirls baton, models, and performs x struts in a three part routine and will advance to the Miss Majorette of America contest in June at Notre Dame. Her mother Amy Patheja says Simrin volunteers hours daily and studies under Scottie Moore in Barnwell.

Students honored for accelerated reading goals at Jackson Middle

Jackson Middle School lists students who achieved 25 or more objectives in the accelerated reading program. In Miss Powell's class the top performer is Travis Williams with 103 objectives. names include Jonathan Jackson, Bridget Crawford, Bland Phair, Babatunde Wilson, Travis Heath, Wesley Reese, Ricardo Walker, Nathan Griffin, Michelle Thrift, Rochelle Roberts, Seancara Curry, Matthew Hornsby, Shaniqua Simmons. In Miss Kilpatrick's class Laura Cooper led with 57 objectives among Cherica Garnett, Materia Stalling, and Jesse Snaidman.

Tri-Development to host monthly disabilities meeting

Multiple Aiken suspects face traffic, disorderly conduct, and theft charges

An Aiken woman was arrested for driving with a restricted license and uninsured vehicle after a nighttime stop on Whiskey Road, facing warnings for headlights. A separate 911 call described a man yelling profanities on Dillon Avenue, later charged with disorderly conduct after admitting alcohol. Another man at Eastgate For THE RECORD Drive disregarded a stop sign and faces withdrawal offenses. A Gloverville woman tried to steal 11 compact discs and three videos valued at 181.86 dollars. Officers assisted a burglary at Hampton Avenue and Morgan Street where a suspect hidden items included two crack pipes and a dagger. The woman is charged with possession of drug paraphernalia, carrying a concealed weapon, and resisting arrest. Correction note for past event about Ash Milner III and Eustis Park.
