Media reports prompt arrest of New Ellenton man
Aiken County authorities arrested 20 year old Jason Smoot after media reports linked him to a manhunt. Smoot, of 108 Smoot Drive, was found in an abandoned Dry Branch Road home and had multiple warrants including larceny forgery and financial identity fraud, a felony with up to ten years in prison. Lt. Michael Frank said Smoot will face additional charges.
