Aiken Training Track Opens in 1941 and Hosts 75th Trials

In 1941 Fred Post was named supervisor for Aiken Training Track inspired by Keeneland. Frank Phelps helped finalize the 75 acre site off Two Notch Road with a 75 foot homestretch and 60 foot turns costing about 52000 dollars. By spring 1942 two hundred horses trained there including nine Hall of Fame members and famed champions. The 75th Aiken Trials will feature a re unveiled historical marker between races three and four.
