Rain clouds ease tonight while tomorrow turns sunny and warm with highs in the 70s. Tonight’s low near 40, light variable winds. Thursday skies fair, Friday clouds increase, chance of showers Saturday. Warmer trend continues through weekend with lows in the 50s and highs in the 70s to low 80s.
Rep. Joe F. Anderson of District 82 serving Edgefield and parts of Aiken County has announced plans to seek a third term in the U.S. House. Elected in 1980, he thanked Edgefield and Aiken constituents and pledged aggressive, conscientious representation if re-elected.
LaVana McKenzie of Bath announces as a Democrat candidate for Aiken County Council District 3. The 32 year old educator, with a USC education master's, is a Bath native and First Baptist Burnettown member, challenging incumbent H Michael McElhaney who has not stated re election plans.

Judge Rodney Peeples told a young man at the Aiken County Court House that if he cut his long blond afro by 2 PM today, his sentence would be decreased. The offer framed as a deal aiming to motivate compliance with court directives.
