Senior rocks through red tape to USC Aiken campus display
Jesse Eggars, a lifelong learner and geology enthusiast from Boone and long-time Edgefield resident, spent three years overcoming government red tape to move a 1 200 pound rock boring from Strom Thurmond Dam to the USC Aiken campus. The Kiokee belt gneiss now sits outside the science building with plaques explaining its origin. Dr. Allen Dennis notes Eggars’s perseverance and unique experiences enrich class, while the project links Clark Hill studies with geological history in the Central Savannah River Area.
