Aiken Triple Crown races set records in sunny spring
The 55th Aiken Trials, Steeplechase and Harness events posted record crowds and strong performance under perfect racing conditions. Ron Stevens trained three winners including Delicate Deed and Detective for Dogwood Stable, with several other notable fillies winning across six races at the Training Track. Leandro won the Aiken Steeplechase List renewal at Ford Conger Field before a late surge past Chicagoland.

The 1998 Aiken Trials will be held at the Aiken Training Track on Two Notch Road. Gates open Saturday at 10:30 a.m. Post time is 2 p.m. Admission is $8 at the gate with $5 parking in advance and $10 at the gate. For tickets call the Aiken Chamber of Commerce at 641-1111.
